In his case he owned up to the sins of others and confessed them as his own.  He did this on behalf of the Jews he had never met and even though he was not directly involved in the misdeeds.

So is the need today.

Plenty has happened in our day to others – whether fully accurate or exaggerated we must make it right with those who don’t yet know Jesus.

But the proverbial ‘Steve’ is the ‘Everyman’ we all know who has messed things up for others who have once upon a time been open to connecting with Jesus and church, but were turned off. We are here to ask forgiveness for that faux pas. In a way, we are all ‘Steve’ or ‘Stephanie’ if you will.
